Context: The media responses to Hillsborough (1989) and Grenfell Tower (2017) reveal systemic failures in journalism that extended institutional culpability and delayed justice.

Hillsborough (1989)

Pattern: Post-Disaster Falsehoods

The failure happened immediately after the event.

Day 4: The Sun publishes "The Truth" (police lies).
23 Years Later: Media apology (2012).
27 Years Later: Inquest Verdict (2016).

Grenfell (2017)

Pattern: Pre-Disaster Silence

The failure happened before the event.

2013–2017: Residents' warnings ignored by media.
Day 2: Media blames individual resident's fridge.
7+ Years Later: Criminal prosecutions pending.
